A man has been charged after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Brampton dealership last month.
Peel police said the vehicle was reported stolen in the area of Kennedy Road and Queen Street East on Dec. 18.
Two days later, officers observed the stolen vehicle travelling near Queen Street West and McMurchy Avenue South, police said.
They followed it to a nearby parking lot, where the driver allegedly got out and fled. Police said officers later located him hiding beside a residence and took him into custody.
On Friday, police released footage taken from their helicopter, showing the arrest of the suspect, who they identified as 34-year-old Julius Layug.
He has been charged with failure to comply with a release order, possession of an automobile master key, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Police noted that Layug is a prohibited driver, stemming from seven separate driving prohibition orders. He was charged with seven counts of operating while prohibited.
