“As a precaution, emergency services met the aircraft upon landing as per regular airport procedures,” Air Transat said in a statement to CTV News.

According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware.com, flight TSC426 departed Toronto Pearson International Airport at 5:45 p.m.

About 12 minutes after takeoff, the plane, an Airbus A330, turned around and landed back at Pearson Airport at 6:39 p.m., FlightAware.com data shows.

Images from the scene show the plane flanked by emergency vehicles. No injuries were reported.

“All passengers and crew are safe, and the aircraft was brought back to the gate without incident,” Air Transat said, noting that passengers would be accommodated in hotels overnight with the flight rescheduled for Friday.

“Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate our customers’ understanding and cooperation as we ensure all necessary checks are completed before departure.”
