Ontario Premier Doug Ford says Prince Harry was “a real gentleman” when the two met last week and he found the prince “so down to earth.”
Ford confirmed Tuesday he dined with royalty following a realtors conference in Toronto where Prince Harry was a guest speaker.
“He was here, and it was nice to meet him,” Ford told reporters at Queen’s Park when asked about the dinner.
Harry was touted as a key speaker closing out the Ontario Real Estate Association’s (OREA) Power House Conference Dec. 1.
Other speakers at the conference included Ford, NDP Leader Marit Stiles and former premier Kathleen Wynne.
Media were not allowed to attend the conference for coverage. While OREA posted dozens of photos from the event on their website, there were none of Harry.
There were reports last week, however, that the premier was spotted with the prince at high-end sushi restaurant Nobu in the city’s Entertainment District following the conference.
When asked what he and Harry discussed, Ford simply said “nothing.”
He was similarly coy when asked what they ate, simply saying “fast food is my favourite restaurant.”
The OREA conference marked Prince Harry’s second recent visit to Toronto. In November the prince visited the city to meet with members of the Canadian Armed Forces and veterans ahead of Remembrance Day.
