A Peel Regional Police cruiser is seen in this undated file photo.

Peel police say they have found the child seen walking by himself in Mississauga on Tuesday afternoon.

Const. Taylor Halfyard said a motorist driving south on Creditview Road saw a toddler walking in the curb lane, prompting them to call police.

Officers attended but did not find the child.

Police shared a photo on social media of the child standing in the middle of the road, saying they wanted to speak to the parents or guardians to confirm the child’s well-being.

“So obviously concerning to us that we would receive a phone call and we would have some photographic footage as well of a child who’s in a live lane of traffic,” Halfyard said. “That’s somewhat concerning, an unattended child.”

Just after 9:30 p.m., police said the child had been found.
