Peel Regional Police say two men are facing multiple firearm-related charges after a traffic stop in Mississauga late Saturday night.

In a news release, officials say officers from 12 Division initiated a vehicle stop at around 11:50 p.m. in the area of Dundas Street East and Dixie Road.

Police say the occupants were detained under the authority of the Cannabis Act, and a search of the vehicle led officers to locate a loaded illegal handgun along with a magazine containing ammunition.
