Man killed in Mississauga shooting, homicide unit investigating

Peel Regional Police say a victim has died following a shooting in Mississauga.

Police say officers were called to the area Goreway Drive and Morning Star Drive area at around 9:50 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived, officers located a victim who has now been pronounced dead.

Speaking to reporters on scene, a spokesperson from Peel police noted that “there is not a public safety concern for any residents in this area, and this appears to be an isolated incident.”

“Officers are still in the area. They’re knocking on people’s doors, looking for anybody who may have any witness information.”

The Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation. Police say there will be an increased presence in the area.

No suspect information has been released.
