Lane reductions begin at Queen and Broadview for streetcar track and watermain replacement work

Leslieville residents may have to change their commute as construction will reduce a portion of Queen St. to a single lane for months.

A busy east-end intersection will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Wednesday for streetcar and watermain replacement work.

The city says as of Wednesday morning, lanes on Queen Street East will be reduced between Broadview Avenue and Davies Avenue.

“The City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) are renewing aging streetcar tracks on Queen Street East between Broadview Avenue and Davies Avenue,” the city’s website reads.

“The City is also replacing the two 112-year-old watermains within the project limits, as well as the watermain along Munro Street.”

The work is expected to close lanes in the area for about three months, with work scheduled to be completed by April 2026.
