The TTC’s CEO issued an apology for two “major infrastructure-related subway disruptions” that snarled the morning commute on Friday.

The issues occurred on Line 1 near Finch Station and on Line 2 near Donlands Station.

There was no service between Finch and Sheppard-Yonge stations on Line 1 for several hours on Friday morning.

The issue was first reported just after 6:30 a.m. and full service didn’t resume until early this afternoon.

On Line 2, subway service was halted between Broadview and Woodbine stations.

Similar track problems on Line 1 were reported by riders via social media on Thursday.

“Together, these issues have impacted our customers, and for that inconvenience, I and the entire leadership team sincerely apologize,” TTC CEO Mandeep Lali wrote in a statement.

Lali added that a “thorough review” will be conducted to understand the root causes of the issues.

“When I joined the TTC six months ago, I committed to improving service reliability. While I’m proud of the progress we’ve made — including better maintenance practices and reducing slow zones — I know there’s more work ahead,” he wrote.

“We have a strong foundation upon which to build, and dedicated staff focused on keeping our system safe and in good repair. It’s critical that we learn from these disruptions and take every step to prevent them from happening again. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues.”
