Durham Regional Police are searching for suspects following a fatal stabbing in Oshawa on Tuesday morning.
It happened near Park Road South and John Street at around 4:15 a.m.
Police told reporters that a passerby contacted emergency services after spotting a person on the street suffering from obvious signs of trauma.
A man was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said they are still working to confirm the identity of the victim.
A home near where the man was found is believed to be linked to the incident but police would not say how it is connected.
“That’s part of the ongoing investigation, to determine exactly where it occurred,” Durham police Sgt. Joanne McCabe said.
No arrests have been made but police said they do not believe there is any risk to public safety.
Police are appealing to residents in the area to reach out to the homicide unit with any information or video footage they have of the area.
Officers will be canvassing the neighbourhood on Tuesday and Park Road South is closed in the area for the investigation.
