One man is in hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Toronto’s Kensington Market early Monday morning.

Video shows the brazen shooting of a man at Toronto’s Kensington Market early Monday morning.

In the security footage obtained by CTV News Toronto, three people can be seen outside of a business on the corner of Oxford Street and Augusta Avenue, making way to the crosswalk before the first shot is fired. Police say shots rang out shortly after 2:30 a.m.

A second shot rings out, prompting one of the men to sprint south on Augusta. When the gunman fires a third round, one man collapses onto the pavement.

The gunman fires a total of six shots before he is seen vacating the area with another man, leaving the victim wounded on the road before bystanders called police.

Speaking to reporters at the scene on Monday morning, Insp. Jonathon Rose said a man in his 30s was found suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.

He was initially taken to hospital with critical injuries, but Rose said his condition has since improved. He is now believed to be in serious, non-life-threatening condition.

Two male suspects were spotted fleeing east on Oxford Street, he noted.

No arrests have been made.

“The preliminary information that we have is that this was a targeted event,” Rose said.

It is not clear how the victim and suspects knew one another or what they were doing prior to the shooting.

“Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the scene is processed and evidence is collected. We understand how concerning incidents like this is to the community,” the inspector added.

“We want to assure everybody that we are putting as many resources as we can toward this to locate the suspects and bring them into custody.”

Police are asking anyone with dash camera, cell phone, or security camera footage of the area at the time of the incident to contact investigators.
