The TTC is boosting service to help fans take in the World Series in Toronto tonight, but says it will suspend surface routes in the downtown core if the Jays win Game 6.

In a news release, the TTC said extra subway service will be in place tonight to help fans get to the Rogers Centre and enjoy watch parties and other events that are taking place across the city.

According to the transit agency, 10 extra trains will run on Line 1 and six extra trains will run on Line 2. Service will increase along downtown streetcar routes “where possible,” the TTC added. The changes will be in effect on Friday night and in the event of a Game 7, on Saturday night also.

However, speaking to CP24 on Friday morning, TTC spokesperson Stuart Green says that if the Jays win tonight, there will be no service on all surface routes in the downtown core.

“That’s simply because we just won’t be able to get through the crowds. And we don’t want any vehicles trapped and we want to keep everybody safe,” he said.

Previously planned subway closures over the weekend have been postponed until a later date, the TTC noted. Any “post-World Series events” impacting transit will also be communicated with customers.

GO train trips have also been added to accommodate fans trying to get home safely.

On the Kitchener Line, a new trip will depart Union Station at 12:35 a.m., making all stops and arriving at Kitchener GO at 2:27 a.m.

On the Barrie Line, a new trip will depart Union Station at 12:30 a.m., making all station stops and arriving at Allandale Waterfront GO at 2:13 a.m.

A new trip will also be added on the Stouffville Line, departing Union Station at 12:30 a.m. and making all station stops before arriving at Old Elm GO at 1:42 a.m.
