A Toronto Blue Jays fan preparing to cheer the team on at the Rogers Centre viewing party tonight says that while she’s a lifelong baseball fan, this year’s World Series playoff run has special meaning for her.
“I’m so proud of these boys. Those who know me know baseball literally saved my life,” Michele Beer told CP24 outside the Rogers Centre Monday ahead of a viewing party there for Game 3.
“I am living my 2024 Season thanks to the Blue Jays, who pushed my season to this year because I was battling cancer last year and I couldn’t come to the games. So I got the better end of that deal, because my boys took me to the World Series this year.”
She said she’s feeling “fantastic” tonight as she prepares to watch Game 3.
“It is October 27 and I am going to a baseball game tonight in Toronto, Canada. This is bonus. This is gravy. This is hockey-who?” Beer said. “We’re playing meaningful baseball right now.”

Beer said she’s coming to all three watch parties at Rogers Centre, where fans can cheer on the team in the stadium for the away games and get free popcorn.
“I think these are going to be the more fun nights. I know it sounds silly to all the people holding $4,000 tickets right now, but these are the fan fans,” she said. “We’re the have-nots. We’re the ones that are sitting on our couches. We’re the ones that sit in the stadium in April and cheer for these boys when they suck.
“But now we’re going to be here, and it’s going to be, I think ‘immaculate vibes,’ as the kids say, in that building tonight because we’re the fan fans.”
Beer said over and above her love for the team, being in the stadium tonight is about community for her.
“We’re just there to cheer on our boys, and it’s about the community. It’s about the community, it’s about the people that you hung it with all summer to support the team,” she said. “And we’re all going to be that building today, and we’re going to scream our heads off and blow the roof off, even though the boys are thousands of miles away.”
