A Toronto boy, who became a social media star following a January 2022 CTV News report of him lamenting his exhaustion while shovelling snow during a storm, says he’s made peace with the white stuff.
“I’ve started to love shovelling a lot more now,” Carter Trozzolo told CP24’s Nick Dixon on Thursday morning, while shovelling snow outside his house.
“It’s a lot of snow, it’s a lot more than I was (expecting).”
Carter, who seems to have now accepted that manual snow removal is an inevitable part of life in most of Canada, says the relatable, exasperated sighs he made during an interview with CTV News Toronto’s Scott Lightfoot in 2022 have made a return today as the city gets hit with another major storm that could bring up to 35 cm of snow.
“Yes, I definitely have,” he laughed while chatting with CP24’s Jennifer Hsiung.
In the January 2022 report, Carter is seen bundled up shovelling snow on the sidewalk outside his home for “my family, friends, probably people I don’t even know” on a snow day, a task he called “tiring.”
“I really wish I was in school right now,” he said at that time.
“(sigh) I’m tired.”
Four years older, Carter now said while he may be able to make a few bucks shovelling snow, he isn’t doing it for the money.
“I don’t think it’s about the money. I like to help,” he said.
“I like to give back to the community, so it’s just a fun little thing.”
Like most kids in the Greater Toronto Area, Carter has a snow day today and said he’ll “pretty much” be spending most of his day shovelling snow.
”Shovelling snow, playing in the snow, just everything with snow today!” Carter said.
He even gave CP24 a little demo of how he shovels snow, which will likely happen several times today.
“Just pushing the snow and hope it goes off (the shovel),” he said.
“I’m definitely going to help my neighbours. It’s going to be a long day.”

As for the experience of being in a viral news report where he ranted about shovelling, Carter said that it was something he “really enjoyed.”
“I was astounded by how many people actually saw me and noticed me and wanted to talk to me. And I just loved it. I loved being known,” he said.
