Dead body found in Winona

Police in Hamilton are investigating after a deceased person was located in the community of Winona on Sunday.

Investigators say the body was found near Fifty Point (Conservation Area) Marina and Fifty Road, east of the Queen Elizabeth Way.

At this time, police are saying that foul play is not suspected.

The scene is, however, being held while the investigation continues.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Hamilton Police Service said in a news release.

Increased police presence in area

On Sunday morning, police advised the public to expect an increased police presence in the area of Fifty and North Service roads as the investigation “progresses.”

“Your cooperation and assistance are greatly appreciated as we work to piece together the events that transpired,” they said in a release.

“Hamilton Police Service is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Public cooperation is invaluable in achieving this goal.”
