Discovery of body found in North York park being investigated as ‘suspicious’: Toronto police

Published:

An autopsy has yet to be completed on a body found in North York’s Gwendolen Park on Wednesday but police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The discovery of a dead body found in a park in North York earlier this week has been deemed suspicious, say Toronto police.

On Wednesday, emergency responders attended Gwendolyn Park, at 3 Gwendolyn Cres., near Yonge Street and Highway 401.

Video footage captured from the park shows an area next to the playground cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Toronto police said they received the call for unknown trouble in that area at around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

There, officers found a deceased male in his 30s, a media officer told CP24.

“At this time, the death is being investigated as suspicious until the autopsy is completed,” Const. Laurie McCann wrote in an email on Thursday afternoon.

Toronto Fire Services said they were also dispatched to the park for a “medical call.” They have since cleared the scene.

Paramedics, meanwhile, told CP24 that they responded to a call on Gwendolyn Crescent in North York at around 2:20 p.m., but did not transport a patient.

TPS at Gwendolen Park Jan. 7 Toronto police vehicles are seen in North York's Gwendolen Park on Jan. 7.
