Suspect arrested, gun recovered after male killed in shooting inside bus at Yorkdale GO terminal

One person is dead, and one suspect is in custody after a shooting aboard a bus at the Yorkdale GO terminal

A suspect has been arrested and a gun has been recovered after a male was fatally shot at the busy Yorkdale GO bus terminal on Sunday evening, Toronto police say.

The incident occurred in the area of Yorkdale Road and the ramp to the Allen Expressway.

Investigators said they were called to that area at 7 p.m. for reports of someone who had been shot on a bus.

At the scene, officers found a male with a gunshot wound and performed life-saving measures. Toronto police later said that he was pronounced deceased.

Paramedics told CP24 that they said they attended the scene, and assessed one patient, but did not transport anyone to the hospital.

Following the shooting, investigators released a “possible” suspect description. They said they were looking for a male in his late 20s with brown skin and standing approximately five foot eight. He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit and a black jacket with fake red and brown fur and seen fleeing the area on foot towards the subway.

Speaking with the media at the scene on Sunday night, Det. Sgt. Jason Davis, of the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit, said “due to the exceptional work of responding officers” an unnamed male suspect was arrested and a firearm was recovered.

He added that there are no outstanding suspects at this time.

The identitify of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin, Davis added.

This investigation is ongoing and Toronto police are asking anyone who was in the Yorkdale GO bus terminal at about 7 p.m. on Sunday and who may have seen what happened to contact them at 416-808-3200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
