A man in his 30s has been critically injured after being hit by the driver of a vehicle in north Etobicoke late Sunday afternoon, paramedics say.

The collision happened near Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 6 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.

The driver, meanwhile, remained on scene.

The victim has only been identified by police as a male.

They say his injuries are serious injuries and that he was transported to the hospital via emergency run.

Paramedics later said the victim’s injuries are described as “life-threatening.”

Currently, Highway 27 is closed in both directions at Rexdale.
