Toronto police are asking for the public’s help after a victim was critically injured during an assault in North York on Sunday.

The incident happened near Lawrence Avenue West and De Marco Boulevard, just east of Black Creek Drive.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 10 p.m. for a medical call.

Investigators say one person was walking westbound on the south side of Lawrence, near De Marco, at about 9:35 p.m. when a dark coloured, four-door sedan stopped in front of them. The suspects, they said, then activated the vehicle’s four-way flashers and exited the vehicle.

Two suspects then allegedly confronted and assaulted the victim before leaving in the vehicle, which was last seen heading westbound on Lawrence.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Toronto police said.

The suspects are described as white males who were last seen wearing black baseball hats.

This aggravated assault investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have been in the area between 9:15 and 10:15 p.m. on Sunday or who may have witnesses this assault is being asked to check for any video or dashcam and contact Toronto police at 416-808-1200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
